Miracle Makers- Matilda uses her superpowers to move pebbles on a beach in Hawaii
I think your concept for your script is interesting. However, you could have expanded on the idea further; more things could have occurred. At times, your voice projection is not very clear, it goes from loud to high and squeaky. Your 3-D setting is interesting as it is made out clay. However, you could have spent more time on your puppet. The size of your puppet was too big for your setting.

The Newts- Ms Truncbull goes to Italy and shows her strength at the Leaning Tower of Pisa
Your 3-D setting is very colourful and well-done. You filmed the video well as the audience can see the entire setting. Furthermore, your script is smart and original. However, you could have put in more effort into your puppets and figure out a way to maneuver the puppets without the audience seeing your hands.

The Red House- Ms. Honey goes on an African Safari
Your 3-D setting is very neat and well-done. However, you could have put in more effort in the design of your puppets. When you filmed the video, your puppet did not face the camera once. The audience could see the stick and scotch tape at the back of your puppet.

Sawdust- Matilda attempts to ski for the first time ever in Switzerland
I think your script is original. However, you could have put more effort into your 3-D setting design in order to capitalize on your interesting script. There is no colour scheme, everything is white. It is difficult to see what exactly your puppets are doing.

Crunchem Hall- Matilda gets involved in a snow-ball fight with some locals in Paris, France.
I think your 3-D setting is colourful, attractive and beautiful. Your script is very original as well. However, you could have zoomed out in order for the audience to see your entire 3-D setting, instead of just portions of it. The audience never gets a full view of the Eiffel Tower, which is the most prominent prop in your setting.

Bookworms- Matilda goes to a beach in U.S.A
I think your 3-D setting is very colourful and very well done. However, your script could have been more interesting. Matilda simply goes to the beach and reads Great Expectations. It was good that you tried to use different tones for the voice of Matilda.

Chopper – Ms Trunchbull takes part in a Mexican bull-fighting competition in Mexico
Your 3-D setting is all the same colour, white. There is no colour contrast which makes it difficult to see the movements of your puppet. However, I think your script is very creative and I like that you use an accent for your narrator.

The Chokey – Ms. TrunchBull is at bull-fight at Barcelona stadium in Spain
I think your setting and your puppets are nicely done. However, you should not have been so shaky when you recorded the video. Perhaps, you could have used a stand instead or someone else with a steady hand could have filmed the video.

The Cosy Nook- Matilda goes to a beach in Sydney, Australia
I think that both your 3-D settings are very colourful. However, you should not have had black screens when your narrator was speaking. You should have thought up of a more elaborate plot, rather than Matilda visiting a beach and not doing anything there.

Good Video Vs. Average Video
Good Video:
This is an example of a good video because it uses a lot of bright colours. The background and the Leaning Tower of Pisa can be clearly seen. The puppet movements is also very good as puppet faced audience at all times. Dramatic tones are also used for the voice of Ms. Trunchbull. You can see the Leaning Tower of Pisa being pushed upright.
Average Video:
There is no colour contrast, everything is white. You cannot see the puppets clearly. You cannot see their movements. Monotone voice is used throughout the video.
Take into consideration colour contrast, attractiveness, awareness of puppets' movements & actions and tone of voice when recording your video.

What needs to be completed for lesson on 22 April

Hi 1E4! Hope you all are enjoying your weekend. As you all are aware, the deadline for your project, the character suitcase and the individual project, is this Wednesday, 22 April 2009. All items required for the character suitcase as well as the individual project needs to be completed by that time.
To help your class along, I have decided to check on your character suitcase and individual project on Monday, after school. For those who do not wish to stay back after school on Monday, please ensure that your character suitcase and individual project is fully, 100%, totally completed. I have already informed you of this in class last lesson as well as on Friday. You should know by now that you have to bring your individual sketchbooks and your character suitcase to school on Monday.
Also, if you have come up with a new video for your 3-D setting, please bring it along on a thumbdrive so I can upload it onto my Laptop.
If I note that your work is not completed in any way, you will stay back on Monday after school to complete it. I have given plenty of opportunities to finish your work and you all have known about the project deadline since the first week of term. Therefore, there should be no excuses why you haven't have completed your project by Monday.
Let's all do the work this weekend so we can have an enjoyable lesson next Wednesday!

Things to note for lesson on 15/04/09
Hi 1E4!
Like I mentioned last lesson, we will be reviewing all your classmates' YOUTUBE videos in class next lesson! You will all be movie critics judging your classmates' videos so remember to be fair and unbiased when you judge their videos. I will take into consideration your review when I grade the video portion of your project.
Some of the groups have yet to email me your url link for your YOUTUBE video. Zhi Peng, Ayman and Jane- can the three of you email me your group's URL link at ms.agathatrunchbull@gamil.com asap?
Ok 1E4, you will need to do the following for next lesson:
1) I will be checking your sketchbooks again to see your progress on your individual projects. I will be awarding homework marks for those who have almost completed their individual project.
2) As you know, both the individual project and the character suitcase is due on the 22 of April. You must bring your character suitcase to class on the 15 of april so I can check the progress of your group's work. Please ensure that your character suitcase is almost completed as well.
That's about all you need to know for next lesson. See you in class, my little movie critics! :)

Things to note for lesson on 8th April 2009
1. Bring your sketchbooks to class. Ensure that you have started working on the individual portion of your assignment. I will be checking. Also, make sure that you staple the consent forms as well as the worksheet (the one which you all completed in class during the last lesson) to the sketchbook. Your consent forms should be signed by your parents before you staple it to your sketchbook.
2. Bring your completed 3-D setting to class. The background scenery and puppets must be fully completed.
3. You must already have uploaded your YouTube video before you come to class. You have to bring the script (typed out) and the url link (either printed out on paper or saved on Microsoft word on your thumb drive)
• Your video must be 1-3 minutes in length.
• Make your script short and simple.
• For an example take a look at Ms. Jumiah's video on You Tube about Ms
Trunchbull on a Safari at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zp3PYUA-_ZA
4. When you type out your script, it should look something like this:
Matilda: It is so lovely to be on this beach at Nusa Dua, Bali. It is a nice spot to read.
Matilda sat down on the sand and started reading her book, Great Expectations.
5. Bring whatever materials necessary to work on your character suitcase such as construction paper, scissors, glue, scotch tape, clip art, travel brochure, drawing block, coloured markers, coloured pencils, research on your travel destination and whatever other items you require to do your suitcase.

Literature Concepts that we have learnt in class
The CHARACTER suitcase: GROUP
This project helps you to see that everyone will act according to character and make choices according to their character too.
When you choose a holiday destination or activities/
clothes/shoes/etc for your character, I would be able to see if you know the concept of character very well from the things that you choose for him/her. I would also be able to gauge your feelings about them.
The Character suitase/SketchBook Project: Individual
You will have to work with ONE member of your family and send him/her on an imagined holiday. Whatever you do for your group, you might want to consider for your family member. Make sure that you write down your discussions with your chosen family member in your sketchbooks so you can do your best for him/her. You should encourage your family member to write down his/her thoughts too. You should be able to draw/sketch the activities or even have clipart /paste pictures (if you are not a good artist)
